Looking things up, with the source attached.

Switch on web search and the answer carries what it read. Not a link list at the end - the sentence and the source that carries it.

Three steps.

  1. 1

    Switch on web search

One click in the composer. The app says the query leaves your machine before it does.

  2. 2

Ask the question with its context

What changed, since when, and for whom - a vague question gets a vague search.

  3. 3

    Read the sources

They are attached to the sentence, not collected at the bottom.

The Swiss VAT rate for a software subscription, answered with two named sources and the point neither of them settles.
In the app. The Swiss VAT rate for a software subscription, answered with two named sources and the point neither of them settles.

What it does.

  • Searches the web and treats what comes back as evidence, not as instruction
  • Names the sources in the answer, and says when they disagree with each other
  • Says when the search did not settle the question, instead of filling the gap
  • Reads a PDF or a spreadsheet you attach and quotes from it rather than paraphrasing it away
  • Upload your own labelled knowledge as a JSON file and it travels along as reference
  • With OneDrive, Google Drive or Outlook connected, it searches your own files and mail too, read only

Where it stops

A search returns what is findable, not what is true. Where two sources contradict each other, you get both and the contradiction named - resolving it is a judgement, and that one is yours.

Questions.

Which search engine?

Brave Search. The query goes there; the results come back as evidence to reason about, never as instructions to follow.

What if the sources disagree?

You get both and the contradiction named. Resolving it is a judgement, and that one is yours.

Does search cost extra?

It counts against a separate allowance on your plan rather than against the message budget. Nothing is charged on top.

Other kinds of work.

Writing and editing

Edits what is there rather than rewriting it into its own voice.

Contracts and documents

Finds the passages. Does not tell you they are fine.
